At the age of 12 I took photography lessons every Wednesday afternoon at a school in Antwerp.
There I learned the principles of photography as wel as developing and enlarging off black and white photo's. At home I got permission to build my own darkroom and that was the beginning of everything.
Later I joined a photo club in Hoboken where I gained a lot of knowledge about photography.
Over the years I lost interest in photography until I begon an adventure at a diving club and school in Hoboken. And there it was again, photography, but this time under water. So, I did this for about 23 years. In the mean while there was also the occasional Holiday photography.
After a few other hobby's over the years I fell back in love with photography. And so you see that you always go back to your first hobby.
A lot has changed over the years. I had an aversion towards Photoshop, Lightroom and other photo processing programs until I really learned to know and work with them. This opened a complete new world to me.
I was still searching for a photography style when I discovered that I was inspired by street photography. This branch of photography is very appealing to me and is currently my main genre in which I want to create my own recognizable style. I love black and white with Spot Coloring incorporated.
In the mean while I rejoined a photo club, in Edegem.
I hope to keep enjoying this hobby for many years to come and being able to let you enjoy my work.
Photographical greetings,
Ray
